West Carteret has an array of wonderful clubs that offer a place for everyone. It is my hope that thtough this column, I will be able to spotlight a club that interests you and allows you to find a community that feels like home. This edition's spotlight is focused on a career pathway club called Future Business Leaders of America.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a student-led organization that provides members the opportunity to become community-minded business leaders in global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. Future Business Leaders of America is the largest business Career and Technical Student Organization in the world. At West, members are encouraged to make the most of their time in FBLA through attending club events and participating in regional, state, and national competitions. Every year, we have WCHS students place high in these competitive events and receive recognition nationally. FBLA has started of strong this year. They receive a burst in membership preceding "Marketing Day", a fun event held at Kings Dominion every year. At Marketing Day, students all across the region are invited to come to the amusement park to meet other like minded individuals who are excited about becoming the next generation of business leaders.
West Carteret has an especially exciting opportunity this year as the Regional Competitive Event will be hosted at WCHS on November 20th.
This is an incredible honor and will put WCHS FBLA on the map! FBLA president, Rob Cummings, will give a welcoming speech to dozens of students and mark the start of competitive events for the 2021-22 year. FBLA is hard at work adapting to the challenges of this year to create a fun and exciting beginning of the club year. This club gives you the opportunity to grow and and succeed with other students. If you are at all interested in business, I recommend you join this club. Even if you aren't hoping to further your high school career in business oriented clubs, FBLA allows you to meet new people, better your public speaking skills, and entertain a series of personal growth.
