How Does COVID Affect Halloween?

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

Halloween is a very exciting time of the year. People dress up, host parties, and go trick or treating. But now there is a pandemic going on. It is the second year that Covid 19 is really affecting the world. The real question is, what is going to happen now? How does Covid affect Halloween?

The virus has gotten better since last year, and vaccines are out. But at the same time, a new strand of the virus is out and is affecting vaccinated people. Some people are not getting vaccinated, or are not wearing masks, which does not help get rid of the virus. Because of this people will not be out and about, and if they are it is more likely that people will spread the virus. Chances are they will catch it as well.

Trick or treating will be affected quite a bit. Some families may not have houses open for trick or treaters and people may not be walking around. It will not be as fun of an experience. Trick or treating is a big community event because everyone goes out to get candy. But if everyone does not go out it won't be as big as it would be if there was not a pandemic going on. The virus also affects candy, so people may do things with friends instead of trick or treating, because it could be contaminated and they don't want to risk it.

Costumes can also be affected. People do not usually go to stores and buy them nowadays. They usually order them online because there are more options, and some can be cheaper and faster to get if you forget and have to order closer to the 31st. Orders may get delayed because of the virus. There is a delay in deliveries and manufacturers because of the decrease of employees. Halloween is affected significantly with the virus and people being scared of catching it.
