Fall Athlete Highlight - Jake Bradley

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

Fall sport seasons are in full swing. Senior nights are coming up fast. Seniors will be leaving behind the sport that has brought them happiness for the past four years. This athlete spotlight will be highlighting various seniors who have given their all to a sport that they hold close to their heart.

This issue’s spotlight features soccer player Jake Bradley.

Jake has played Varsity Soccer all four of his years here at West Carteret High School. He, along with fellow co-captains Rob Cummings and Parker Wood, have helped lead the team to secure the Patriot’s 6 wins this season. Jake currently has 3 goals and is leading the team with 12 assists. Playing as an attacking center midfielder, Jake is always winning in the defense and initiating offensive plays.

How long have you been playing soccer?

I have been playing soccer for about 14 years.

What is your favorite memory?

My favorite memory of soccer is making the national soccer team. I had played for a Global Premier Soccer Elite team, and through that I had been invited to train with their national team. Unfortunately, because of Covid, the team was unable to continue through the season. But attending camp and making the team was a huge accomplishment for me and my soccer career.

What are your plans for after high school regarding the sport?

I have an offer from Methodist University to continue my soccer career and further my education.

What advice do you have for younger players that want to continue and play the sport? Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. Also if you work hard now you are already many steps ahead of everyone else and don't let anybody tell you what you can and cannot do.
